Why OIKOS?

First, we need to answer: why Mozambique? As the world crosses one of the biggest pandemics of mankind, not all countries are equal obtaining access to materials (masks, vaccines, etc.) or responding to this crisis. Only a few countries in the world have access to PPE’s and mostly, the anti COVID-19 vaccines. Children in these countries without vaccine, struggle to attend school without proper PPE and our lives cannot stop.

R4aC chose OIKOS to partner with for our “Kanimambo Challenge” as OIKOS has a deeper knowledge of the situation in Mozambique and also easy access to help these children in need.  This NGO is locally represented since 1990 and has taken action in the well-known provinces of: Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula, Maputo and Gaza.

OIKOS priorities in Mozambique are the rural development, food security, local infrastructure rehabilitation and relocation of refugee population, just to name a few activities. You can read more about all of the projects OIKOS is running in Mozambique here. (add hyperlink https://www.oikos.pt/pt/onde-estamos/mocambique).

R4aC has partnered in the past with OIKOS to help the victims from CICLONE IDAI back in 2019 for our Challenge #4. Back then, we ran more than 10,000 kms in 3 months and we were able to help to provide survival kits that were delivered to children and their families. These kits included: clothing, cooking devices, construction materials, water purifiers and hygiene items.

We are proud to partner with OIKOS for our “Kanimambo Challenge”!
